About

A lab
open to the ocean.

Black Anchor started as a passion for the ocean and technology. I'm an engineer by trade, into robotics, electronics, AI and making things. Alongside that, the ocean has always mattered to me — being on the water, diving, watching marine life, understanding what's beneath the surface.

Why

Bringing two worlds together.

Black Anchor came out of wanting to bring those two worlds together. Not as some inaccessible lab, or a company pretending it already has all the answers — more like a workshop open to the ocean: come up with an idea, build it, take it out into the field, understand why it works (or why it breaks), and share what I learn along the way.

Projects range from a 3D-printed paddleboard accessory to an autonomous marine drone or an AI system that can identify marine wildlife. There's no rigid line between them — on purpose.

BUILD · EXPLORE · UNDERSTAND THE OCEAN, BETTER.

My method

How I work

Four principles that guide every project, before any code or solder gets committed.

Principle / 01

Start small

An idea doesn't need to become a product right away. I start with a sensor, a bit of code, or a simple prototype. Learn, then raise the difficulty step by step.

Principle / 02

Test for real

A system that works on my desk isn't a marine system yet. Water, sun, salt, current and vibration are part of the spec.

Principle / 03

Document the failures too

A leak, a bad motor choice, or a model that gets it wrong usually teaches me more than a clean demo. The log is also there to tell what didn't work.

Principle / 04

Build what matters

I don't bolt technology onto everything. I use robotics, AI or electronics when they genuinely help explore, observe, practice or protect the ocean better.

What's next

Where this is headed

No artificial dates — just the direction.

01

Today

Learning, prototyping and documenting.

02

Next

Turning prototypes into systems that can actually work in the field.

03

Down the line

Building technology that's genuinely useful for ocean exploration, observation and understanding.
